OJT at the Departmet of Budget and Management

Venturing into a new place is not kind of new to me, because I’m a person who loves to go to places I’ve never expected to go to. The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) includes the list. It was only until the start of April that I knew I was going to have my On-the-Job Training at DBM. April 17, 2013 came, I had mixed emotions on what to feel because this is a “government” place, people are serious here and people mean business here. But first impressions don’t last, they say.

I was assigned at the Information and Communication Technology Systems Service (ICTSS) together with 6 other OJTs, which includes my brother. I had a warm welcome from the staff; I met each and every one of them. I was shy at first, but it went well as the days gone by. We were oriented the next day and knew the do’s and don’ts while having our OJT here. I even knew that there was a color coding on what to wear in the days of the week.

I was ecstatic; I learned a lot about printer connections, network connections and a whole lot more including things I haven’t even knew from my schooling. I also knew how important one’s personal computer at one’s respective bureau was; not using them for a day means super delayed paper works. Our OJT landed on what they called “Budget Prep”, so this is no time for busted computers/laptops, and here we are to the rescue. We fix CPUs to the best of our ability, we assist on the incoming encoders from different departments, we answer calls, and we go to different buildings just to work on the job requested. Yes, it was a nice feeling to be busy. Weird, you may say, but I like being busy. But not to the extent wherein I’ll already feel super stressed.

Now that my OJT has come to an end, I would like to thank each and every one who had been part of this experience. My mentors, my OJTmates, my Uncles, and all the people in DBM, thank you so much. My stay at DBM would never be this memorable without all of you. I’ll keep in mind everything I’ve learned here. Godspeed, Department of Budget and Management!

It’s my very first time to model in a photoshoot. I’m usually behind the lenses, but doing this was an awesome feeling. Now I know how models feel when they are the ones taken pictures of. Nevertheless, I had fun!
